Six Weeks and Nearly $600,000 On the Line for World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Models

Early season weather woes make for lucrative, action-packed April and May

CONCORD, NC– April 9, 2018– Mother Nature got the best of the World of Outlaws Craftsman® Late Model Series in March, but with rescheduled events that means an even more eventful Spring! An impressive stretch of racing lies ahead of the Series with six non-stop weekends of racing visiting seven states. In six weeks’ time, the Outlaws, alongside local and regional drivers who are up for the challenge, will have a chance at claiming a piece of nearly $600,000 in total purse money.

2018 LMS Queen City Shootout Whynot

MERIDIAN, MS– March 23, 2018– A brand new event to the 2018 World of Outlaws Craftsman® Late Model Series schedule is fit for a queen. The Queen City Shootout at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS will be a marquee event consisting of back-to-back 50-lap $10,000-to-win complete shows on Friday and Saturday, April 20-21.

Wet and Wintry Weekend Temperatures Postpone Illini 100 until April 13-14

FARMER CITY, IL– March 20, 2018–  The World of Outlaws Craftsman® Late Model Series alongside track officials at Farmer City Raceway have made the decision to postpone the 11th annual Illini 100 to the preplanned makeup date of April 13-14.

Penalty Report

CONCORD, NC — March 9, 2018 — World Racing Group has announced penalties in the World of Outlaws Late Model Series. Per the rulebooks and the integrity of the sport, such infractions shall be announced. Members in good standing have the right to appeal the decision to the World Racing Group Appeals Commission as provided in Section 12 of the General Rules and Specifications. All three reports occurred during DIRTcar Nationals competition at Volusia Speedway Park on February 15, 2018.

Tennessee Tipoff at Smoky Mountain Speedway Postponed to April 27-28

CONCORD, NC – March 7, 2018 – Fans eager to attend the Tennessee Tipoff featuring the World of Outlaws Craftsman® Late Model Series this weekend at Smoky Mountain Speedway will have to wait a little longer than expected as track and series officials have postponed the event to April 27-28.

Outlaws Prepare for First Stop in Illinois at Farmer City Raceway

Illinois-native Brandon Sheppard looks to capture third Illini 100 victory 

FARMER CITY, IL– February 27, 2018– Illinois dirt tracks will play a crucial role in the World of Outlaws Craftsman® Late Model Series championship battle, beginning March 23-24 with the 11th annual Illini 100 at Farmer City Raceway. Illinois-native Brandon Sheppard looks to capture his third Illini 100 victory during the first of three stops this season in the Prairie State.

The Illini 100 is one of the most anticipated Late Model events of the year with its unique format consisting of an always thrilling 25-lap Craftsman Club Feature on Friday, capped by the 75-lap $15,000-to-win event on Saturday.

MARYVILLE, TN – Feb. 21, 2018 – The Tennessee Tipoff on March 9-10 at Smoky Mountain Speedway is definitely going to be “two” big to miss. The World of Outlaws Craftsman® Late Model Series will lead an expected huge field of star drivers into two, complete $10,000-to-win events.

Tyler Erb, driver of the No. 91 in the World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series has violated section 2.2 / 11.1-J of the 2018 DIRTcar Racing Rule Book.

World of Outlaws Late Model Series Statement Regarding Tyler Erb

World of Outlaws Late Model Series officials are aware of the ongoing situation with one of its competitors. Long after racing competition was completed at Volusia Speedway Park during night nine of DIRTcar Nationals, the Volusia County Sheriff department was called to the facility by a third-party for a non-racing-related altercation between Tyler Erb and a fellow driver. Series officials are in contact with the Volusia County Sheriff and will proceed accordingly. The World of Outlaws won’t have any further comment at this time.

RACE DAY Lernerville Saturday Firecracker100

A friendly game of kickball benefitting the LUNGevity foundation took place this afternoon allowing drivers and fans to laugh and unwind before the competition heats up for the $30,000-to-win Firecracker 100 finale tonight.

So far during the event, Chris Madden and Mike Norris have both collected preliminary victories which will place them on top of the Firecracker 100 rankings. Madden will start on the pole of the first heat and Norris will start on the pole of the second heat. The third heat will be led by Brandon Sheppard and the final heat will be led by Devin Moran. 

Two drivers entered into tonight's event at Lernerville Speedway have won the coveted Firecracker 100 including Shane Clanton (2010) and Rick Eckert (2015).
